I wanted to take a moment to check in as we move through Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker!
I am REALLY loving this book, the heavy science parts sometimes help put me to sleep.... but I think that's exactly what Matthew Walker wants!
Whether you’ve read a few pages, a few chapters, or are simply following along with the conversation, you’re exactly where you need to be. :)

A Few Ideas That Stand Out
This book brings so much awareness to how powerful sleep really is. Some themes that tend to resonate:
• Sleep as a foundation for brain function, learning, and memory
• The connection between sleep and mood, stress, and emotional regulation
• How sleep impacts immune health and long-term wellness
• The role of sleep cycles and circadian rhythm in how we feel day to day
And something I always reflect on while reading this:
Sleep is where so much of our breathing patterns show up most clearly.
Reflection Section:
Over the next few days, you might gently notice:
• How do you feel when you wake up; rested or still tired?
• Do you notice any mouth dryness in the morning?
• Have you observed anything about you or your child’s sleep (movement, noise, restlessness)?
No need to change anything , just notice. I know I sure have!
If You’d Like to Share
• Has anything in the book surprised you so far?
• Did a chapter or idea shift how you think about sleep?
• Have you noticed anything new in your own sleep or your child’s?
You’re always welcome to jump in at any point, even later on if your joining months past when this was posted!
A Gentle Reminder
This is still a low pressure space.
There’s no timeline to finish, and no expectation to keep up.
You can return to the book, and this conversation whenever it feels right.
I’m so glad you’re here and exploring this with me 🫁
