April Book Club Pick: Why We Sleep
Thank you to those who were apart of our first Airway Book Club read of Breath by James Nestor. It sparked so many interesting reflections about breathing, jaw development, and daily awareness.
Our next book will be Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker,
beginning April 1st.
This book dives deep into the science of sleep and explains why sleep is one of the most powerful regulators of our health, influencing brain function, learning, immunity, mood, metabolism, and longevity.
For those of us interested in airway health, sleep is an incredibly important part of the conversation. The quality of our breathing during sleep can influence everything from energy levels and focus to growth and development in children.
What This Book Explores
In Why We Sleep, Matthew Walker explains:
• Why sleep is essential for brain health and memory
• How sleep affects mood, hormones, and immune function
• The science of sleep cycles and circadian rhythms
• What happens when sleep is disrupted
• Why modern lifestyles often interfere with healthy sleep patterns
It’s a fascinating look at something we all do every day, but rarely fully understand.
